        Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Is a root canal painful?
No, root canals are usually painless because dentists now use local anesthesia before the procedure to numb the tooth and its surrounding areas. So, you should feel no pain at all during the procedure. However, mild pain and discomfort are normal for a few days after a root canal is conducted.
  • How do I know if I have a cavity?
Toothache, spontaneous pain or pain that occurs without any apparent cause. Tooth sensitivity. Mild to sharp pain when eating or drinking something sweet, hot or cold. Visible holes or pits in your teeth.
  • Are fluoride treatments worth it?
Yes! Not only does fluoride prevent decay, it can also reduce root hypersensitivity such as cold sensitivity and sensitivity during dental cleanings, which can be common with gum recession.
  • What is considered dental restoration?
If your teeth are missing, decayed, weakened or fractured, you might need a dental restoration. Examples of dental restorations include fillings, crowns, implants, bridges and dentures. See your dentist if you’re having any problems with your teeth.
  • How often should I have a dental exam and cleaning?
You should visit your dentist every 6 months to a year to get a routine examination and cleaning. If you have a history of periodontal disease, you should get your teeth cleaned more often in order to prevent the recurrence of infections or disease.
